Mission Makers

Mission Makers is Tarrant Area Food Bank’s premier volunteer leadership program, recognizing dedicated volunteers who serve as ambassadors, advocates, and peer leaders across our mission.

Mission Makers are trusted volunteers who help strengthen the volunteer experience at TAFB. They support shifts, welcome new volunteers, represent TAFB values, and help build a community rooted in service.

 

What Mission Makers Do

Members serve as ambassadors, advocates, and peer leaders while supporting volunteer programs and community engagement opportunities throughout the year.

HOW TO APPLY

Interested volunteers can apply through a simple review and onboarding process led by the Community Engagement Team.

The Community Engagement Team will review your submission and follow up.

MEET WITH THE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TEAM

Applicants will be invited to a meeting to learn more about the role and expectations.

JOIN AND CELEBRATE!

New Mission Makers will be initiated individually and celebrated at quarterly gatherings.

Guidelines for TAFB Mission Makers

Mission Makers model TAFB’s values and help create a welcoming, reliable, and supportive volunteer environment.

All requirements listed must be met to participate in the program and be recognized as a TAFB Mission Maker. 

 
  • Commit to at least two volunteer responses per month in areas such as Quality Control (QC), Community Kitchen, Partner Agencies, Home Deliveries, or Gardens.
  • Maintain strong volunteer standing by not surpassing two behavior notices.
  • Maintain reliable attendance by not surpassing three no-show shift cancellations.
  • Complete Civil Rights Training annually.
  • Serve as shift support and act as a role model for new volunteers and CSRs.

Ambassador Training

Build the skills and confidence to represent TAFB and support fellow volunteers.

Leadership Opportunities

Have the opportunity to lead volunteer shifts and serve as peer support.

Attend TAFB Events

Attend TAFB events such as Empty Bowls, Mahj for Meals, and more.

Volunteer Appreciation

Attend our Volunteer Appreciation Month event in April and receive a token of appreciation.

TAFB Website Recognition

Your name will be listed on the Mission Makers page, with updates after each quarterly celebration.

Celebrating Current Mission Makers

Each quarter, the Community Engagement Team will host a celebration for all Mission Makers, welcome new members, and highlight the volunteers helping move TAFB’s mission forward.
